Art as social power.
Ari (Nidhi Shetty) is an Artist, Data Protection & Governance Engineer and an Educator. She explores the interplay between technology and its impact on human mind and behavior — for an individual and collectively for a society. She is an advocate of using art as social power and resistance to this fast-moving AI race, in order to protect the inner self and build guardrails for data protection. In a hope that one day, we try to create a human-centric (not profit-centric) technology that focuses on data ethics and that still preserves the human purpose to live in this damned world.
Disciplines
My natural intuitions & limited knowledge often touch the following disciplines as of today — as I understand it, but I am not sure if it will remain this way.
Systems, networks, algorithms — the invisible scaffolding of daily life.
Attention, choice, ritual — how we act inside those systems.
The membrane between thought and object, canvas and code.
The raw material of the digital age — personal, collective, political.
Awe, unease, tenderness — the residue technology leaves on us.
I translate and transpose legal & engineering concepts, jargons & regulatory requirements into a visual canvas that can be understood in communal spaces with human interactions.
Connect these concepts to basic human emotions, principles and put it in a cultural context.
Methodologie
I usually work on medium to large canvases by combining the state of my emotions with the rhythm of music (preferably instrumental & electronic). My work is influenced by the Abstract Expressionist movement. I play with dynamic movement of my body and energy available in the air.

- Acrylic, oil, ink, raw canvas — often unstretched during work.
- Format
- Human-scale to wall-scale; frequently 150–220 cm on the long edge.
- Sound
- Ambient, electronic, contemporary classical — played loud.
- Lineage
- Abstract Expressionism; contemporary media theory.
The paintings are a form of AI literacy. They ask, quietly, whether the systems we build make more room for humans — or less. Art as social power; technology as a human medium.

Nidhi Shetty (ARi) is an artist and information science engineer whose paintings examine the seam between technology and the human interior. She paints at scale, in public, and inside the institutions that shape the digital world — from data-protection forums to cultural centers — treating the canvas as a shared thinking space.
